I can't believe it but I am saying goodbye.....

.....to my boat!

I absolutely love my boat, almost to the point where I've probably rubbed some paint off cleaning it so much, LOL. I use it almost every week that the weather behaves, all year, sometimes twice in those weeks. So why sell it? Market! I have owned it for 4 year and while I've added a few goodies here and there I am literally getting every penny back that I have into it. In short, I got to use a boat for free for 4 years. That just does not happen with boats, they lose value, but with Covid, increased demand and short supplies, it is a seller's market on steroids and I am striking while the iron is hot.

Of course, that is not the only reason. I originally wanted a Bass Boat but went with a Deep V for family friendly use. Unfortunately, my family just did not take to it and since my buddy bought a 21' CC for the salt 2 seasons ago, my boat has not travelled outside of fresh water since. In short, I've run out of excuses to not own a true bass style boat, add in the fact that I've evolved into a Bass nut, I just cannot get enough of chasing them, I am bit! I want that bigger casting deck and rod storage that only a bass boat offers.

Now you're probably thinking, dummy! LOL. You're going to go buy a Bass Boat in the same "Seller's Market". Oh heck no! I cannot tell you how frustrating powered boat lakes have become since Covid. If you have a boat or frequent lakes to fish in populated areas, you know how bad it has become, it is literally downright dangerous some days and you really have to pick your windows for an enjoyable experience. So with that, I'll skip the powered lakes and pick up a small boat like a Bass Raider to go tool around electric only lakes that are much less dangerous to hold me over until Spring. Maybe even get back into some trout chasing?

I know the economy is going to shift over the next year, lakes will return to normal use levels and inventories will normalize. In the spring, I will snatch up my nice new dream bass boat or possibly a gently used one that is losing it's value quickly due to the market turn. ;)

I had a Carolina 238dlv for a Number of years and one by one I sold of the kids and they started their own families. No one to help me with the boat and it can be a bear to laugh. So I sold it. Kicked myself ever since.

I'm contemplating the same thing or the same reasons. This year I wont be able to fish tournaments with my either of my sons, work schedules. I do have a tourney partner lined up and he has a boat. Couple other buddies with boats too. I could become b.b.t and still get out a lot.

COVID pricing has been good and bad depending on what you are doing. I'm thinking about selling the kayaks and maybe even the Ranger to clear debt and take advantage of the COVID buying craze. I'd sell the boat if I could find a Sea Ark reasonable.

Our boat needs paint. If I keep it I hope this year I can throw some time and money at it. It needs a better trolling motor, the 45 lb thrust is weak.

Sooooooooo

I took the family out to a cafe for lunch. We ordered a newly born bunny weeks ago. So after lunch we needed gas and cash. We went to wawa grabbed some cash and went on our way. I’m driving. And this beautiful red boat fly’s past me. Well it turns out it was TS boat leaving his house for good. 🥲

I texted him and he said what do you have a camera at my house. Bahahahahaha. No it’s a small world and what dude doesn’t notice every boat they pass. Very funny and ironic happening today

That was ironic no doubt! Cute bunnies! I actually had my very own white dwarf rabbit from when I was in 4th grade until a year after I graduated high school. They usually do not live that long but I guess we took good care of him. ;). Our 120lb. Black Lab absolutely loved that rabbit.....not in a dinner way either. ;). They were buds and Jake always kept an eye out for him, inside or outside.

Rabbits are one species we don't have at the zoo lol We grew by 9 over the Spring. Now any plant with color or moving object gets murdered by a roaming mob lol Truth be told they are actually fun to watch and interact with and awesome for tick control. The down side is keeping many predators in check.

I could be in the middle of a sentence then see a boat and I'll point it out or say "someone's going fishing....bastard" then continue on like nothing happened.

Well that didn't take long! LOL. I ordered and put a down payment on a boat yesterday. What I ordered though might surprise you being I am coming out of a 16' Deep V with a nice large 88" Beam. I ordered a Tracker Grizzly 1648 and Trailer. That's it, just the hull, tiller style. No motor, no electronics, no wiring, not even a bilge pump. 16' with a 72" beam will work great for my needs and I am going to build it exactly how I want my boat to be. Other than the area where I have to sit to control the motor, the rest is going to be deck and storage, both of which I have been craving for since I've turned into mainly a bass chaser.

The spending continued today with a purchase of a Minn Kota Ultrex for the bow. I am still deciding on the power plant but I mentioned in my original post my frustration with powered lakes so I am making this boat 100% electric for flexibility. There is an electric outboard company, several to be honest but specifically, epropulsion, that I am trying to decide how much I want to spend. In short, if I want to go 6-7mph, I'm looking at spending just under $3k. If I want to go 15mph, $6k and then there are variations in-between as well as other considerations. I know that might sound pricey but I am working with proceeds from my boat sale so it is in the budget so to speak. I'll label this as TBD yet. Easy money (in comparison) is to swap a Minn Kota on the Transom for electric lakes and a 20-25hp gas for gas powered lakes. I do enjoy the tech stuff though so ......... ;)

I have a ton of parts to order yet but fortunately, they are not as pricey as the last 2 days and the main power plant.
