When I lived in the Redwoods in 1980 someone began a tubing business on mad river near Arcata. They found out the hard way to make sure all jewelry was removed from tubers as the steelhead were grabbing hands and feet. While not deep these bites were messy.

Without thinking, he grabbed the fish with his other hand which startled the muskie and caused it to let go and bolt out of there.
When you think you are on top of the food chain and suddenly find out you're not ;)
