Got some hellgie bodies from the shop don’t really like the amount of glue used but I think they’ll look ok in the end reject 1&2 # 3 with have a bigger material to make the segments the shorter one is what I’m going to run with

Nope store bought even though they look good I just don’t believe that they will move good

We've used the real ones when they hatch around here. They work great on trout and smallies.

I've used both. Caught 4 -5 smallies on the same bait live hellgramites. I use trout magnet jigheads, on the trout magnet brand.

Let me tell you a little story I was using minnows and the minn came on a snag when I pulled it in I caught this hellgramite. Hooked it better then casted for hrs nutin. But this fly pattern I tie gets hit by trout all the time. So I’ll stick with the yarn and feathers.

I like those jigheads and I have a bunch. Haven't used them this year.

I’ve never seen a fly pattern that would out fish the real thing light wire hook hooked under the shell behind the head a 6 foot leader on the end of a flyrod pretty hard to beat
