How difficult wrapping?

To me it seems impossibly hard but maybe it’s more time than talent? I’m guessing it’s probably both. While I like the skills of allot of rod builders I prefer a simple wrap like above with no diamonds or thread work. I did do some sort of nice thread work on my son's rod but I wouldn't have done that for my own rods. Simple varnish is still nice in many cases.IMG_4761.jpeg

Time, Time,Time!!!! I have worked on a decorative wrap for 3 days, about 3 hours each day. Talent is for sure one thing, PATIENCE is the key!!! Some of the wraps ive done are 4 diferent colors. Eche one gets wrapped one dirrection, then another collor goes the other direction. So on and so on. If you mess one up, you have to unwrap it and start over. You really need to love doing it!!!! I have wrapped some guides 12 times because it looked bad. Thats aggravatting!!!! But the end result is gtatifying!!!!
