Making wire leader

Ok guys I’m trying to figure this one out. Maybe someone on here can help me out as I was never very good at math. I bought the afw for leaders in 60lb it’s very hard to tie so I was thinking of using a crimping sleeve on it. The wire is.032”. The sleeve is a single. So do I double the wire diameter to fit.

This is just an idea what I was looking at.

When you say tie do you mean like tying a knot? Why not simply barrel twist the wire to make an eye. .032 wire should be rather easy to twist. Like this, minus the plug

I was just looking this same subject up last night but for stinger hooks on live bait jigs it gives you the single sleeve size requirement

You may want double wait a minute 60 is .032 the smallest double is .052 that’s a bit so at 60lds it should take a #4 single sleeve a double would start at 60 .032 and 90 at .048 these specks are coming out of my Barlows book

So the knot can be a clinch knot which I was trying so I took your idea but the only thing is when wrapping like this it gets to tight that I cannot slide the wire down to complete the knot.

Number 4 in afw sleeves looks like they say. .071”.

I couldn’t help ya as I would never run that line in my guides or reel. It’s great for a trolling setup.

I dont have any gear that would handle it on a reel but i think it would make ok leaders like don says.

If you do leaders out of it depending on how flimsy it is I would do barrel swivels. The reason I like the nylon coated wire is it’s just like line and bends easy. Just hope it works might still be to light.

My buddy gave me that 85lb wire from afw looks like it will work for the bigger heavier lures but anything light it might take away the action.
