Teach me about skirts

No, not that kind of skirt!

I have some jigs that could use some new skirts and I have no experience with them. I have seen some skirts (I think) at the local sporting goods store and I have seen some people make jigs online and they use a skirt tool?

I don't want to get into jig or lore making, I just want to replace some skirts. It is as simple as walking into Dick's or Cabelas and picking up pre-made skirt that I can just slip onto a jig or chatter bait or is it as involved as what a lure maker would do?

Awesome! That is exactly what I was looking for!
It is that simple. If you get those. Others have the bands and dont come off a cleanly. I make my spinner/chatterbaits and jigs. I buy the skirt layers to make custom color skirts. I'm pretty picky and want specific designs.

So I found these at Lurepartsonline and picked up a couple of packs in my favorite colors.

Bass Academy Signature DT Pro Skirts.

I had some other parts I needed to order so I went with what they had. I am back on my spinner kick and want to make some larger spinners for Bass so it was one stop and shop.

This is part of a actual skirt tool the tube part of it is hiding somewhere in my mess it was way too expensive for what it is a wire with a j hook bent into it will do the same job for pennies you just need a taper that you can roll the collars onto the tube then be able to remove it

If I made this 20 years ago I would have saved 50 bucks

Here’s a buzz bait I just brought back from the dead new skirt (I only had purple so I painted it black) cleaned the blade shaft and sharpened the hook a little

You got me going a little lol thanks

I was going to ask about the band but I see the do-it package in the one pic. I was thinking some kind of surgical tube although I was 99% certain, a product exists.

This will come in handy in the future. I have some ideas in mind where I could apply this in the future so Thank you!

I received my skirts today. Nothing complicated about them. They slide right on. Perfect! I was able to take a chatterbait from red/black to green / chartreuse and then fix up some other jigs.
