I like my whip finisher but it is a larger version and I rarely use it. I like hand tying but I'm not very delicate sometimes. Staring me in the face was a rubber-banded pack of pens that I lifted from banks, servers and customers by accident over the years and my answer was obvious. A sod farm pen with tube removed: 1) use big end for pushing back high-tied hair and wings, 2) use the small end for half hitches and double/triple half hitches. It has other uses as well, spit ball shooting, drumming, cleaning ears and more. And, wether or not true, by mentioning these things to those around me I can assure that it won't walk off........;)IMG_0037.JPG

I recall I used something similar to slip loops over a flie hook eye when tying, going back a few decades though.
