Salmon

Well if two nor easters in a week hit next week Melvin will be measuring nothing like last weekend. It’s totally awful what happened to him. But it can happen to anyone. Doesn’t make pa any better trust me. Pa fishing is the Clearwater Phillies to make a reference compared to Ny being the major leagues.

I saw that rain coming but had to wrap a few things here. I’m going to head up late this week lord willing and hope the salmon aren’t still around as much.

Great Coho and those browns are awesome.

Grem, When does it end? Are you saying that the Salmon thin out but browns and bows keep coming for a bit?
A5 you mention all the rain. Are the fish still there but the water is in safe to get into? Or are the fish just not even there in high water?

Yes. Water is way unsafe. The high water takes away a lot of spots. They actually close 3 miles of river when flow release gets over 2,000 cfs. Float fishing am be done in higher water but fly fishing is a bit more challenging

I got it. More of a safety issue and the Sweet Spots are swallowed up into one large area. All this said it is also unsafe to approach. I had purposed to go channel cat fishing on the Delaware near my house. it had finally settled down last week but then the rain came.

Don I have spots you can fish at 3,000. But the river fishes 30 percent instead of being able to fish so 90 percent

Simple way to think if you fall in below 1000 CFM you will get wet if you fall in over a 1000 you can be going for a unwelcome ride down river.

My buddy is a big salmon nut. He’s hitting them hard this year. Been getting into some nice ones.

I hit Erie this time so not sure but A-5 would know about recent NY reports. I’m guessing salmon are done. Especially with the early push that seemed to come this year after the rains. I caught them in early Nov ish last year but it was drought like and I hit it during the first good rain coincidentally. I get lucky like that at times.
