Sounds like an older fish to me. I know with trout, if you find a pattern like that, usually on a freestone stream, it means they’re emaciated due to lack of food which is usually caused by lack of flow year over year.

Let me help, take jig/hairy do hicky, all 8k color shades, bring in boat, put a shock cord of 10 lbs mono, maybe 12”, 6” amnesia pink (so you can see it), 4-6 lbs Seaguar gold leader….. then drop the jig do hicky off side of boat, hook an emerald shiner, nip lower quarter of tail fin, stick big old orange/yellow bobber on, and catch! Or if it’s hot, Carolina rig same/same. Best advice, don’t let TC near your raft. If he touches it you’ll never catch again. He seems to even ruin weather patterns for years in micro climates! That guy is some kinda influence on the fishing Gods.

Last i knew, maybe still wanted for war crimes,,,, Ukrainian who identifies as Russian. Also, one of the few I’d want in my camp at the end of days. Surviving more than one should changes perceptions. No doubt, those who would’ve beat him near death fed his young person and he feels an obligation to that misguided as he might be. Not talking current conflict, USSR. I’ve lost comms in recent years and for all I know he’s either still designing space station instruments or he’s running a tank in defense of Siberia. Don’t have to agree with others to understand their motivations to some degree.

4 smallies a rainbow and a good old fallfish today nothing picture worthy but I had a knot failure and lost another nice bow bang it just a fish tail tight line and have a good 4th

Another smallie fest, quite a few small ones but mostly chunky healthy bass. I caught 2 on a small popper after dark, best fish of the night but couldn't locate my camera. Turns out I had stuffed in the back of my vest, thought I had left it on a rock somewhere. Ended up with 32 smallmouth bass and one long fall fish, all but 3 came on the Fat Albert w/ 1/8 oz jig head, green pumpkin and brown
