We have a tight chicken run, Ring video at every corner of the house and barky dogs. It didn't help. We have had hawks swoop down, bear climb on top of the run and rip the nesting boxes up and we didn't lose any until this weekend. I know they are chickens but it bothers me. I'm a week a way from having their new coop built. Oh and we have weasels, coyotes, bear, raccoon, fox, owls, hawks and I even saw an eagle once. We think this was the fox.
In lighter news, that Favorite White Bird rod is no joke. Casts a country mile, super sensitive, light weight and plain fun. Best $55 rod I have ever bought.

As a young adult we all had mitchel 300s. But……there was new high end brand emerging which was whispered about respectfully and it was thought to be over the top in quality. Abu Garcia: offered many sizes of this line and I had never owned any. Yesterday I bought one at the flea mkt for $3.30. Man it is nice. I loaded it with 6lb and casts very well and has a nice drag.

Okay, I may have lied about not buying anything else this year.
These Lew's combo's are $50 right now on clearance at Walmart. I couldn't resist trying it for that, looks like it will make a decent beater rod for the kyack anyway.

Since we were at Field and Stream my better half and I both splurged and got ourselves new reels. We got the same one, DSG exclusive on sale. We haven't tried anything from Lew's yet. So far it's smooth and looks to be as good a quality as anything in it's price range or even higher. Mine has 6 lb Vicious mono. Shiela used hers already so maybe she will chime in. Felt nice to get some new gear. I should fall down and break stuff more often

Articulated shafts for flies mostly. Some for running trebles on those big rubber lures. And whatever I can do with them.
